Privacy Policy

Ding  ·  Last updated: October 31, 2026

Ding is a menu bar app for Mac that shows your next meeting, counts down to it, and joins it in one click. It reads the calendars already set up on your Mac (iCloud, Google, Exchange and others) through macOS. This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is used.

Data We Collect

We collect no data. Ding has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no telemetry. Ding does not use the network at all, and nothing is transmitted to us or to any third party.

What stays on your Mac

Ding does not copy or store your calendar events; it reads them from macOS while it runs.

Calendar Access

Ding asks for permission to read your calendar. It uses event titles, times, calendar names, and any meeting link in an event's location, URL, or notes field. It never changes or deletes calendar events.

Joining a Meeting

When you click Join, Ding hands the meeting link to the app or browser you chose for that service (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, or another link). From there, that app or website handles it under its own privacy policy. Ding does not see or record the call.

Notifications and Reminders

Reminders are scheduled with macOS and appear only on your Mac. Event titles shown in a reminder or full-screen reminder never leave the device.

Optional: AI Access

Off by default. If you turn it on in Preferences → AI Access and connect an app that supports MCP (for example Claude Desktop or Claude Code), that app can ask Ding for your next meetings and, if you allow it separately, ask Ding to open one. Two separate switches control this; each can be turned off at any time and takes effect immediately.

What the connected app can see

Meeting titles, start and end times, calendar names, which service a meeting uses, and whether it can be opened. Never meeting notes, attendees, locations, or the meeting links themselves.

Where it goes

The connection is local, between Ding and the app on your Mac (no network). Once the connected app has that information, it is handled under that app's own privacy policy. We never receive it.

Launch at Login

Optional and off by default. This is a standard macOS setting.

Children's Privacy

Ding does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
