HomeForge is an app for iPhone, iPad and Mac that creates and manages automations in your Apple Home (HomeKit). This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is used.
We collect no data. HomeForge has no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no crash reporting, no telemetry, and no advertising. The app contains no networking code of its own, and nothing is transmitted to us or to any third party by the app.
Records of the automations HomeForge created: their names, the devices and rooms involved, their settings, and the locations chosen for arrive and leave automations. Also which home you last selected. This is kept in the app's private storage on your device. HomeForge does not send it anywhere. If you back up your device, it is included in that backup under Apple's terms.
HomeForge asks for access to your Home. It reads the names of your homes, rooms, accessories, scenes and automations, and some device values (for example battery level and sensor readings), to show them to you.
It creates, edits, turns on or off, and deletes automations in your Home when you ask it to. The ones it creates have names starting with "HomeForge".
Your Home data is stored and synced by Apple (HomeKit and iCloud) under Apple's own privacy policy. HomeForge does not copy it off your device.
Only if you create an arrive or leave automation. HomeForge asks for location access "While Using the App", only so the map on that screen can start at your current position and "Use current location" works.
The location you choose is saved in the automation, in the Home, so that your Home can tell when you arrive or leave. That detection is done by Apple's Home, not by HomeForge, and HomeForge does not track your location in the background.
The map's tiles are loaded by Apple's Maps service under Apple's privacy policy.
Optional. It briefly turns the devices you select on and off to check that your automations work, then puts them back. It never includes door locks.
The automation log and the test report leave the app only if you choose to share or copy them. Copying stays on the device, with no Universal Clipboard.
Only Apple (Home/HomeKit, iCloud, Maps), under Apple's privacy policy.
HomeForge does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
