Map clarity
When your whole group is at the same place, most apps collapse them into a pile of overlapping pins — or hide half of them behind a “+N” badge. Mylo packs everyone into a tidy grid on the place's chip, so the whole crew stays on screen.
People together away from a saved place gather into a single huddle chip. Zoom in and they expand back to their exact positions.
Multiple groups
Be in your family group, your hiking crew, and a work group — all at once. Each group has its own map, its own places, and its own encryption key.
Members of one group see nothing about any other. Nate in Family is completely separate from Nate in Happy Hour.
Groups
Each group shows every member's current status — at home, sharing, at work, or paused — alongside your saved places.
Invite with a QR code, a link, or a short code you can read aloud — the QR works with any camera app, not just Mylo's. Invites are single-use and expire in an hour, and the join finishes even if you've closed the app in the meantime. Remove someone and the group key rotates automatically.
Places
Save places — home, school, the office — and they appear on your group's map. Each place has its own radius so members know when they're there.
Places belong to the group. Everyone sees the same saved places.
Place shapes
School campuses, apartment complexes, parking lots — these don't fit neatly in a circle. Mylo supports oriented rectangular geofences so you can define the actual footprint of a place.
Rotate the map with two fingers to set the angle. The dimensions tell you exactly what you've set.
Alerts
Set alerts per person, per place — arrive, leave, or both, once or every time. Or put the alert on the place itself and get notified when anyone arrives or leaves.
Alerts fire even when the app is closed, using background geofencing on both iOS and Android. And they wait for a confident GPS fix before firing — no false alarms when a noisy reading flickers across a boundary. Missed a notification? Mylo catches it up the next time your phone checks in, so a dropped push doesn't mean a missed alert.
And they're transparent by design: anyone who sets an alert on you appears in your "watching me" list, an eye icon marks them on the member list, and you can block any watcher's alerts with a tap.
Flight alerts
Turn on flight alerts for anyone in your group and get notified the moment they land — no flight number, no itinerary to enter. Mylo just recognizes the airport-to-airport hop as it happens, using the same live location updates your map already runs on.
Other apps compute this by mining your location history on a server. Mylo doesn't have history to mine — the same on-device evaluator that runs your place alerts just notices "was at one airport, now at another," and it survives the mid-flight signal blackout because it only needs the two endpoints.
It's opt-in, per person, off by default — and anyone can turn off announcing their own flights without touching any other alert.
Pause
Any member can pause sharing at any time. Pausing overwrites their location on the server with an encrypted "paused" status — the coordinates are gone immediately. No snapshot, no last-known position. They stay in the group; nobody gets a notification.
While you're paused, a banner reminds you — resume with one tap. No explanation required.
Events
Every group is either always on or events only. In an events-only group, nobody shares by default — the map lights up only when an event is on.
Create a time-limited event with a name, start time, and duration — run more than one at once, like a weekend trip and a dinner reservation. Everyone in the group gets notified and can join with one tap.
Choose how closely to track: the whole time, only when nearby the event's place, or only once you've actually arrived. Set alerts on the event itself, too — get notified when anyone arrives or leaves.
When the event ends, its data is deleted and everyone stops sharing automatically — no one has to remember to turn anything off.
Personalization
Choose a color palette for people and a separate one for places. Colorful avatars, compact panel, avatar pins on map — configure the display to fit how you use it.
Prefer imagery to street lines? Switch the basemap to satellite. Mylo follows your system's light or dark mode automatically, and shows distances and place radii in the units you're used to — feet and miles or meters and kilometers, based on your phone's locale.
How you see them
Rename anyone in your group, just for you. Use your own photo for them, or keep it to initials on a color. It's your view, stored on your phone — it never changes how anyone else sees them.
And how you appear to others? That's one name and avatar you set once, everywhere.
iOS & Android
Mylo is one app on iPhone and Android — same map, same groups, same end-to-end encryption. Nobody gets left off the map because of what's in their pocket.
No account
Mylo generates a recovery seed on your device at setup. On iOS it syncs to iCloud Keychain; on Android it syncs via Block Store. Switch to a new phone and Mylo restores itself — automatically on iOS, and in most cases on Android.
Behind it all is a 24-word recovery phrase you can write down or save as a QR code — the universal fallback that works anywhere. There is no account database on our servers. There are no credentials to steal.
